Customized Facial Treatment - 90 Minutes: 48-Hour Aftercare Checklist
By T Scalp Therapy & Spa | October 26, 2026
Quick rule: For the first 48 hours, protect what I just did for your skin. That means no sun, no heavy sweating, no hot baths or saunas, and no active exfoliants or makeup. One of my facial clients told me their visit felt like “a little luxury during my day, ” and this simple 48-hour reset is what helps that refreshed, recharged feeling actually show on your skin in Fountain Valley.
If you just had my Customized Facial Treatment - 90 Minutes ($168), your skin is usually in that sweet spot right now: cleaner, smoother, and more responsive. A lot of people leave noticing a brighter look, a healthy glow, and less puffiness after facial massage and lymphatic drainage work. The aftercare below keeps that glow steady instead of turning into redness, tightness, or surprise breakouts.
I’m located in the Warner Avenue commercial corridor in southwest Fountain Valley near Brookhurst Road, close to the Huntington Beach border. With our year-round sun and coastal breeze, sun exposure sneaks up on you fast. I’m going to keep this checklist simple, practical, and realistic for busy schedules.
Your first 24 to 48 hours: keep the glow, skip the triggers
Right after a luxury facial treatment, your skin tends to be more sensitive than usual, even if you feel totally fine. In my 90-minute facial, I’m working through cleansing, exfoliation, masks, serums, and massage. If we did extractions or more targeted work, you want to treat your skin like it’s in recovery mode for two days.
48-hour checklist: No sun exposure, no intense workouts, no saunas or hot baths, no active exfoliants, and no makeup. Cleanse gently morning and night, moisturize, and wear SPF 30+ during the day.
Do this tonight
- Keep your hands off your face. If extractions happened, touching is the fastest way to turn a calm spot into an angry one.
- Use lukewarm water only. Hot water feels good, but it often brings redness back.
- Skip makeup. Your pores are clearer, and I want them staying that way.
Do this tomorrow morning
- Gentle cleanse. Think mild and fragrance-free, not squeaky clean.
- Moisturize. A soothing moisturizer helps lock in that hydrated, comfortable feel people rave about after leaving my spa.
- SPF 30+ (broad-spectrum). Even if it’s overcast in Fountain Valley, UV still gets you. And if you’re headed toward the beach in Huntington Beach, SPF is not optional.
Days 3 to 7: how to avoid the “why am I breaking out?” week
A lot of people feel so good after this facial that they want to do everything at once. I get it. Clients tell me they leave feeling refreshed, recharged, and like they finally took a real self-care pause. But your best results usually come from doing less for a few days, not more.
Here’s the truth: a “post-facial breakout” is often irritation, not acne. Too many actives, too much heat, too much sweat, or trying a brand-new product stack right away can set you back.
If we did lymphatic drainage facial massage: You might notice less puffiness and a brighter look for a few days. Keep supporting that by staying hydrated, sleeping enough, and keeping skincare simple.
What I want you to keep doing
- SPF every morning. Fountain Valley sun is year-round, and a quick stop outdoors adds up.
- Gentle cleanse twice daily. If your skin feels dry, one cleanse at night and a water rinse in the morning is often enough.
- Moisturize consistently. The goal is calm, cushioned skin, not tightness.
What I want you to avoid (usually until day 3 or later)
- Active ingredients for 48 to 72 hours: retinols, AHAs/BHAs, and Vitamin C serums. If I gave you different instructions, follow those.
- Hot yoga, saunas, steam rooms: heat and sweat can trigger irritation fast.
- Beach time without protection: if you’re heading toward Huntington Beach, reapply SPF and wear a hat. Wind plus sun is a sneaky combo.
The “simple routine” I recommend after a bespoke facial
People call this a bespoke facial because I’m not running a one-size routine. I’m watching your skin and adjusting as I go, especially if we’re addressing congestion, dehydration, sensitivity, or dullness. Your at-home care should match that same vibe: intentional, not complicated.
AM: Mild cleanser, soothing moisturizer, broad-spectrum SPF 30+.
PM: Mild cleanser, hydrating serum like hyaluronic acid (if your skin likes it), soothing moisturizer.
Pause for 48 to 72 hours: scrubs, exfoliating pads, retinol, AHA/BHA acids, strong Vitamin C, and any brand-new “test” products.
If you booked your facial as part of a spa day, pairing skin work with scalp care is popular here. If that’s you, keep both areas calm after your appointment. No harsh scrubs on the face, and don’t overload your skin with strong actives because you’re excited about results.
Extractions aftercare: the fastest way to heal spots cleanly
If I performed extractions during your 90-minute customized facial, it’s normal to see a little redness or feel tenderness in a few areas for a day or two. What you do next matters more than people think. Picking, “checking, ” and adding exfoliation to smooth the area out usually makes it last longer.
Spot rules: Don’t touch, don’t pick, don’t scrub. Keep it clean, moisturized, and protected with SPF during the day.
- Use a gentle cleanser only. No cleansing brushes, no scrubs.
- Skip pore strips and at-home extraction tools completely.
- If you feel dry or tight, moisturize more often instead of exfoliating.
And yes, I know the beach is close. If you’re heading across the Huntington Beach border for a quick sunset walk, wear SPF and keep your face out of direct sun as much as you can for those first two days.
When to text me, and when it’s time to book your next facial
Most people feel calm, hydrated, and glowy after this service. I hear “refreshed” a lot, and I love that. If you feel a little redness right after, that’s common and it usually settles quickly with gentle care.
Reach out if you notice increasing pain, spreading redness, pus, or fever. I’d rather you check in early than sit at home worrying. I serve Fountain Valley and nearby Huntington Beach, Westminster, Garden Grove, Santa Ana, Costa Mesa, and Stanton, so it’s easy to pop back in if I need to see your skin in person.
"Such an amazing and relaxing experience. Ginnie made me feel totally comfortable when I was feeling self conscious and gave me some skincare recommendations that I look forward to trying! She's very informative with each step of the session, warm and welcoming, and overall an enjoyable experience. 10/10"
